LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY ADMISSION POLICIES FOR LSU PRESCHOOL LABORATORY The primary objective in selecting children for the LSU preschool laboratory is to provide university students an opportunity to observe, study, and participate with children from a variety of situations and backgrounds. The policies have been formulated to meet this objective. Application - Forms may be obtained from the School of Human Ecology office may be completed and filed any time after the child is two years of age. The date of earliest application is the criterion for selection after considering other criteria presented below. Date of Selection - Selections from applications which have been submitted are made by February 1st of each year. If openings occur for the Spring semester, selections are made in November. If a child is accepted into the preschool and the parents do not wish to enter their child at that time, it will be necessary for them to re-apply for future admission consideration. Once a child is accepted, he/she is enrolled in preschool until the end of his/her four-year-old school year. Age - The preschool enrollment is composed of a balance in the number of three-year-olds and four-year-olds. The lower age limit is that the child must turn three by September 30th after he/she begins preschool. The upper limit is that the child may not turn five before October 1 st of his/her year as a four-year-old. Sex - The preschool enrollment is composed of a balance of girls and boys. Toilet Training - All children who are selected should be toilet trained by September 1 st of the year that they first enter preschool.
